![]() ![]() ![]() The answer is that they each have advantages and disadvantages. Which system is better - a power jet or a suction nozzle? A vacuum is created which sucks up water and gravel but the material is pushed through the hose instead of being sucked through the hose, as in the case of the power jet. ![]() Hoses and other dredge accessories are not included.Ī suction nozzle works in a similar fashion to a power jet except instead of being attached directly to the header box the nozzle is attached at the far end of the material hose. #kesn2 outlet size: 2.0" inlet size: 1.25" Prices start at $135 for a 1.5" Suction Nozzle. Below pic is close up of the schist I have blasted clean & washed out.Ideal for shallow water dredging - these Keene dredge suction nozzles are precision manufactured from thin walled plated steel tubing with machined orifices to create maximum suction pressure. As you can see in the above pics this bedrock would be under water in a flood & the schist fingers trapping this gold in its cracks & cleverage. The fine gold would have tended to be carried on further down stream in a flood. The gold here was generally of a chunkier, coarse flat nature & not so much fine. ![]() The gold in the pan in the above pic is the result from a couple of hours of doing that crevicing & cleaning out of the schist bedrock in the others pics from a river in Central Otago in the south island of NZ. Generally I just shovel straight in to it & hook the motor/pump up to the spray bars. This was the first time I used it with the ply board on the front to take my 2" suction nozzle hose set up.
